Steps to Finishing Tasks

Have you participated in a meeting or strategic planning session that afterwards there were task to be completed for the next meeting?  Ok, I will not put your on the spot.  However, we all know that many individuals fail to complete their assigned task or wait until the day before the next meeting to compete the task.  Here are 3 actions you can take to finishing tasks:
  1. Be Organized – First, only accept task that you believe you can achieve in the time allotted. If the task is huge, break it into smaller portions and set goals for when you will complete each portion. Breaking the goals into smaller portions can motivate you as you can see the progress being made when another goal is checked off.
  2. Be Accountable – Ok, we all know things happen.  Prior to the meeting, tell the team what you have and have not accomplished for your task.  Don’t come to the table with excuses or worse nothing completed.  You are on the team for a reason and accomplishing a task assigned to you is your responsibility.   Stay focus and organized to help your team move forward.
